And So It Is【TAPE】- Aaron Shaw
Aaron Shaw is one of LA's most talented saxophone/flutists, known for his work with his brother in the duo Black Nile and for collaborating with such great artists as Herbie Hancock, Tyler, The Creator, and Anderson .Paak. In 2023, at the young age of 27, he was diagnosed with a serious disease called bone marrow failure, and this miraculous debut album was born out of a ``new performance style'' born while facing physical limitations and death. This work is co-produced by Carlos Niño, a key figure in the contemporary jazz world, and is supported by many talented allies, including Dwight Tribble, a prominent LA singer, as well as cellists and harp players. This work is characterized by a wonderful structure that begins with a calm opening that resembles a quiet prayer, and gradually builds to an emotional height. The abyss of despair and loneliness, and the mysterious purity that lies beyond that, are sublimated into music. Please enjoy this masterpiece of deeply introspective and emotional spiritual ambient jazz, which embodies the current state of LA's jazz scene, with the texture of tape.
