This is the 14th album by Azymuth—Brazil’s premier jazz-funk-fusion trio—released in 1988 on the prestigious U.S. label Milestone Records. While often overlooked in favor of their edgier "rare groove" material from the 1970s, this late-80s release is recognized as a masterpiece from the band's mature period. It showcases a highly sophisticated, urban sound that evolved beyond their earlier, raw Brazilian grooves, offering a rich collection of tracks defined by relaxed, masterful performances. The album features a guest appearance by legendary jazz guitarist Joe Pass on "Tropical Horizon" (A4). It also includes covers of "Ho-Ba-La-La" (B1)—originally by Bossa Nova pioneer João Gilberto—and Dave Brubeck’s "Bossa Nova USA" (A1).
