1980年代後半に米フィラデルフィアで結成されて以来、生演奏を軸にしながら多様な音楽性を取り込み、約30年以上活動を続けているヒップホップ史上最高峰の伝説的バンド The Roots。2006年に急逝した天才プロデューサー J Dilla への追悼として2010年に発表したインストゥルメンタル･カバー･アルバムが嬉しいカセットテープ仕様で到着！本作には全14曲（約40分）のタイムレスなセッションが収録されており、J Dilla の代名詞であるヨレた打ち込みの質感を、ドラマーの Questlove をはじめとする超絶技巧を持つバンド･メンバーが全て人力で寸狂いなく再現･再構築。もともとは彼らがレギュラー出演していた米TV番組の楽屋裏のセッションから生まれており、スタジオ録音とは異なる、生々しくスリリングなジャムの空気感もそのままパッケージされております。

Formed in Philadelphia in the late 1980s, The Roots stand as a legendary band at the pinnacle of hip-hop history, active for over three decades while incorporating diverse musical styles centered around live instrumentation. Now, the instrumental cover album they released in 2010—a tribute to the genius producer J Dilla, who passed away suddenly in 2006—has arrived in a delightful cassette tape format! This release features 14 timeless tracks (totaling approximately 40 minutes) in which the band’s virtuoso members—led by drummer Questlove—recreate and reimagine the signature "off-kilter" programmed feel of J Dilla’s beats entirely through live instrumentation, executing them with flawless precision. Born from backstage jam sessions during their regular appearances on a US television program, the album captures the raw, thrilling atmosphere of a live jam—distinct from a standard studio recording—and preserves that energy intact.
