Death Is Not The End からリリースされた、西アフリカ･ガーナを中心とする1920年代末から1950年代末までの歴史的な音源を網羅したコレクションの第1弾をストックいたしました！本作は、アフリカ最初期のポピュラー音楽と呼ばれるパーム･ワイン（地元の労働者たちがヤシ酒を飲む酒場で演奏されていたことに由来する、アコースティックギターと現地の打楽器を中心とした、非常にリラックスしたルーツ･ミュージック）やブルースをベースにした、初期のハイライフ･ミュージックのルーツを辿る貴重なアーカイブ作品。当時、Zonophone や Columbia、Decca といった大手の欧州レコード会社が西アフリカ市場向けに制作した貴重なSP盤（78回転盤）の音源をリマスターして復刻。1920年代後半にロンドンで録音された、歴史上最初期の音源が多数含まれております。

We have stocked the first volume of a collection released by Death Is Not The End, featuring a comprehensive selection of historic recordings from the late 1920s through the late 1950s, primarily from Ghana, West Africa. This release serves as a valuable archival work tracing the roots of early Highlife music—a genre built upon foundations such as "Palm-wine" (a highly relaxed form of roots music centered on acoustic guitar and local percussion, named for the palm-wine taverns where local laborers once enjoyed it) and the blues. It features remastered reissues of rare 78rpm records originally produced for the West African market by major European labels like Zonophone, Columbia, and Decca. The collection includes numerous recordings that rank among the earliest in history, having been recorded in London during the late 1920s.
