Journal | Extended【TAPE】- Dday One

LAの生きる伝説"Dday One"が『Journal』を再訪し、10曲入り拡張版『Journal | Extended』を発表。本作にはオリジナル4曲のリマスター版に加え、未発表曲6曲が収録されている。

『Journal | Extended』に収録された楽曲は、Dday One自身のスタジオにある日記（その一部がジャケットアートに描かれている）の個人的な記述に基づいて製作された反転ビートや重ねられたサンプルが随所に散りばめられ、Dday Oneの思索的な細部へのこだわりを裏付ける魅力的なアレンジが施されている。旅人が内なる真実を求めて哀愁を喚起する「Heiwa」、異世界的な音色と質感を持つ「Meaning」、楽曲の楽器要素を遊び心ある導入で提示する「Rhythm Section」など、この巧みな選曲の数々からほんの一例を挙げたに過ぎない。『Journal | Extended』は、パブリック・エネミーとの仕事で知られるベイエリアの伝説的エンジニア、ブルース・レイトンによるリマスターを施されている。また、Dday One自身が撮影した写真——スタジオ日記に記されたメモやアイデア、スケッチなど——も収録。これらの写真は、プロデューサーの創造的プロセスを垣間見せる貴重な記録となっている。

LA's living legend Dday One revisits ‘Journal’ with the 10-track expanded edition ‘Journal | Extended’. This release features remastered versions of the original four tracks plus six previously unreleased songs.

The tracks on ‘Journal | Extended’ are crafted with inverted beats and layered samples, inspired by personal entries from Dday One's own studio diary (parts of which are depicted on the jacket art). They showcase captivating arrangements that underscore Dday One's thoughtful attention to detail. Examples of this masterful selection include “Heiwa,” evoking melancholy as a traveler seeks inner truth; “Meaning,” with its otherworldly timbres and textures; and “Rhythm Section,” playfully introducing the instrumental elements of the track. Journal | Extended has been remastered by Bruce Layton, the legendary Bay Area engineer known for his work with Public Enemy. It also includes photographs taken by Dday One himself—notes, ideas, and sketches recorded in his studio diary. These images offer a rare glimpse into the producer's creative process.
