2021年に Park The Van Records よりリリースされた『Both Ways Brighter』も素晴らしかった米サンフランシスコのSSW、Mae Powell。約4年ぶりとなる待望のセカンド･アルバムを Colemine 傘下の Karma Chief からリリースしました。カナディアン･インディ･フォーク･バンド Loving のマルチ･プレイヤー、David Parry をプロデューサーとして招き、母親の農場で過ごした経験を楽曲に落とし込んだという本作。フォーク/ジャズ/ソフト･ロックの境界を軽やかに往来する、あたたかみを感じるヴィンテージ感のあるサウンドと、気怠くもジャジーなヴォーカルが柔らかく重なる、タイトル通り”光を迎え入れる”瞬間を切り取ったような唯一無二の仕上がりです。

Mae Powell, the San Francisco singer-songwriter whose 2021 release Both Ways Brighter on Park The Van Records was also outstanding, has released her long-awaited second album on Karma Chief, a Colemine imprint, after about a four-year hiatus. Produced by David Parry, multi-instrumentalist of the Canadian indie folk band Loving, this album draws from her experiences spent on her mother's farm. It effortlessly traverses the boundaries of folk, jazz, and soft rock, featuring a warm, vintage-tinged sound and languid, jazzy vocals that softly intertwine. The result is a truly unique work, capturing moments that feel like “welcoming the light,” just as the title suggests.
