LAのトラックメーカー”Dday One”のよる”Mood Algorithms”は当初、カセットテープで20本限定で流通した。90年代後半に製作され、時を経て2025年、デビュー作”Loop Extensions"の発売20周年を記念して限定発売されます。現代的の音響修復・保存技術を用いて復元され、4トラック録音素材、3.5インチフロッピーディスク、現存するテープ1本からデジタル化が行われた「 Mood Algorithms」

サンプラーを所有していない頃からターンテーブルの針をループ・ポイントに落とす”ドロッピング・ザ・ニードル”という技を駆使し、カセット・デッキに思い通りのサンプルを重ねてビートを作っていた。そして数年かけて集めた膨大な枚数のレコードと、このころ培った制作方法を経て、無限に存在、そして今もなおリリースされるアナログレコードから、サンプリングという手法にこだわり、自身のドラムループで構築していくスタイルは唯一無二の抒情的なサウンドをメイクしている。

“Mood Algorithms” by LA-based trackmaker Dday One was originally released in a limited edition of 20 cassette tapes. Produced in the late 90s, it will be reissued in 2025 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his debut work “Loop Extensions”. Restored using modern audio restoration and preservation techniques, “Mood Algorithms” was digitized from 4-track recordings, 3.5-inch floppy disks, and the one surviving tape.

Even before owning a sampler, he mastered the technique of “dropping the needle”—placing the turntable needle at a loop point—to layer samples as desired on a cassette deck and build beats. Through years of collecting vast numbers of records and refining his production methods, he developed a unique, lyrical sound. His style, built around his own drum loops and an unwavering commitment to sampling from the infinite world of analog records—still being released today—is truly one of a kind.
