ブラジルを代表するジャズ･ファンク･フュージョン･トリオ Azymuth が、1985年に米国の名門レーベル Milestone Records から発表した通算9枚目のアルバムです。本作は彼らの地元であるリオデジャネイロで録音され、現地のゲスト･ミュージシャンによるパーカッションも交えつつ、当時の最先端だった都会的でメロウなシンセ･サウンドを上品にブレンド。Marvin Gaye の名曲"What's Going On"をメロウなヴォコーダー･サウンドで再解釈したカバー(A1)をはじめ、サンバ･フュージョンの快作"Turma Do Samba"(B4)など、軽快なブラジリアン･グルーヴから哀愁感漂うインストゥルメンタルまで、バリエーション豊かな全8曲が収録されています。Azymuth の数あるディスコグラフィの中でも、80年代中期のアーバンで洗練されたクロスオーバー･サウンドを堪能できる名作として、世界中のジャズ･ファンやクラブ･ミュージックのリスナーから現在も愛され続けている名作です！

This is the ninth album by Azymuth—Brazil's premier jazz-funk-fusion trio—originally released in 1985 on the prestigious U.S. label Milestone Records. Recorded in their hometown of Rio de Janeiro, the album elegantly blends the sophisticated, mellow synth sounds that were cutting-edge at the time with percussion contributions from local guest musicians. It features a diverse collection of eight tracks ranging from breezy Brazilian grooves to melancholic instrumentals, including a cover of Marvin Gaye’s classic "What's Going On" reimagined with a mellow vocoder sound, and the superb samba-fusion track "Turma Do Samba."
