Strays【TAPE】- Way Ahead Trio

カナダはカルガリーを拠点にするジャズ･トランペッターの David Lavoie が結成した新プロジェクト Way Ahead Trio のデビューEPが、同じくカルガリーのローファイ/チル･アウト系レーベル Inner Ocean からドロップ！本作ではメンバーそれぞれによる楽曲、全5曲が収録。トランペットと同じ運指/奏法でシンセサイザー音を操る EVI（Electronic Valve Instrument）とエフェクトを駆使し、浮遊感のある電子音にウッドベースやドラムス、パーカッションというアコースティックなリズム隊が絡み合う、ファンキーでグルーヴィーな躍動感のある楽曲から、内省的で静謐なアンビエント･ジャズまで、多様なサウンドスケープを探求した素晴らしい仕上がりとなっております。

Way Ahead Trio, a new project formed by Canadian jazz trumpeter David Lavoie, has dropped its debut EP on Calgary-based lo-fi/chill-out label Inner Ocean! The EP features five tracks, each written by a different member. Utilizing the EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument), which manipulates synthesizer sounds with the same fingering and playing techniques as the trumpet, and employing effects, the EP explores a diverse range of soundscapes, from funky, groovy, and dynamic tracks to introspective and serene ambient jazz, with floating electronic sounds intertwined with an acoustic rhythm section of upright bass, drums, and percussion.
