Vesu’s—the alias of producer Vesa-Matti Kivioja—has been active since the late 1990s as a core member of the Finnish multi-collectives Ljudverket and Meltdown Deejays. He now releases the latest installment (Chapter 3) of his "List Of Lizards" series—originally launched in 2019 via Brian Not Brian’s label, Going Good—through the London-based experimental music label SWIMS. For this release, he deliberately slows down the tempo to craft a richer, more immersive atmosphere. Anchored by the pulsing rhythms of hardware synths and samplers and layered with precise digital echoes, the music creates a meditative electronica soundscape that delves deeper into the traditions of dub than any of his previous works. The album also features contributions from several guest vocalists and musicians, including the legendary Finnish woodwind player Tapani Rinne. The meticulous packaging—featuring a laser-printed case and a colorful Risograph-printed J-card—perfectly reflects the unique world of the music. Highly recommended!
